My Next Store Neighbour

It's a chilly Sunday morning. Well, this day I woke up early. I know I'm a medicine student and the society has the notion that we should never sleep, we should be on our books! We oulisikia wapi? 10 o'clock is that time I unfold my sweet warm comfy duvet or as Cartoon Comedian put it in that funny accent, "sio kwa ubaaaad, ndio nimearise, ndio kushine!". But today it's different, it's different because I'm hearing the presiding father with some italian accent announce that today was a Eucharist Sacrifice. For the better part of my life and even today I don't know what that really means. But today I'm here; in a strange place.

It's during the process of following the procession that I'm somewhat unaware of the protocols I make to reflect back. What really brought me here? It has been 6 months now since I attended a church service but after so long I'm here. Well, I'm an usher at KeMU chapel and for me I would say it was a quenching for service that brought me here. Like a little child who's craving for their mother's affection I'm. We all require spiritual nourishment regardless of the religion. May you be a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist or a Non-partisan we've that part of our heart that craves for supernatural connection regardless. Many people, I included assume that spiritual as well as mental growth is automatic as it's for physical growth. But we've to be intentional to attain maximum growth in these two. Let's say this is what had brought me here, but.....Well, we'll see.

The belief that humans should interact whenever there is a chance is pretty nauseating and archaic. Well, I'm not against any form of friendship whatsoever but I don't believe in conventional methods of socialization. Friendship and the idea of socialization is much exaggerated. With my kinky rough hair and an infectious broad smile which Crushie said made me look like eighty, a girl thinks that it's important for us to be friends. My hair is kinky anyway. I'm naggingly boring and unattractive basicly, I tend to cling too much and perform duties uncalled for, for which many times go unnoticed and unappreciated. I tend to become jealous and ask too much and most importantly, tidiness and being neat are close to my heart. With combination of all these, I'm a walking robot who needs some codes to function, probably HTML or Java.

But this girl next door wants us to be friends. She smiles broadly with well spaced teeth and hugs tighter than you think. She's amazingly excellently perfect; with a voluptous body and well snatched waist. Sorry I smiled much more than usual  as I returned her melanin plate, oops it's melamine plate she had offered cakes. Well, I'm not a cake taker but the excitement from her face I couldn't resist. Anyway, my sisters did enjoy the chocolatey flavoured cake but for me, I enjoyed receiving it. Gracious Lord, Human Beings are forcing me into friendship and are using cakes as pleasantries to seduce me!

If that's not enough, I'm here listening to the father preach and the Italian accent can't get out of me. He's talking about the story of Samson and how Delilah tricked him into falling. If that is absurd coincidence or some sweet slow voice from God speaking to me, I don't know. I'm not a Catholic, but here I'm reciting the Hail Mary as if it's something I've done all my lifetime. Convincing me to attend matters spirituality was the last nail human beings could use to force me into strings I hadn't planned for. Imagine someone scolding you for late replies when at first it was just a church service? Nevertheless, men are weak and weakness is men. This girl thinks that bringing me for spiritual nourishment would be the last bait she could use to me. Well, lemme give my offering and see what happens after the sermon. Something should be brewing, surprisingly near the tabernacle!
